PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
There's always something exciting about the beginning of the new calendar year with new and established officers and chairs. lt's a time to reflect on the previous year - and to look ahead at the opportunities in front of us, individually and collectively as we continue to fulfill the work of NBMBAA.
Looking Back
While we close the books for Q4 and FY07 overall, I can say that I am very proud of what we have accomplished this past year. We have made visible progress on all dimensions of our "compass" and perhaps we have effectively brought these themes to life in our work with our students, corporate partners, members, and supporters.
Customer Centricity - Specialization - Innovation - Teaming
In thinking about customer centricity, I believe our specialized, diversified teams have become an integrated part of our Los Angeles Chapter of the NBMBM's success. As I look at our organization and the dynamics of its operation, the challenges and changes-what comes to mind is the three R's:
- Relevance - Keep up with the times by making the organization relevant in a globalized marketplace. Focus on providing leadership in the African-American community as the business professional voice; educate public officials corporate leaders, opinion leaders and influencers.
- Recruitment - Grow the membership ranks. Create privileges for membership; affinity marketing, advocating business school outreach.
- Response - Respond to the needs and desires of the membership; expanding opportunities, personal/professional development and strategic networking.
This is exemplified by the renewed and increased corporate partnerships, and strategic alliances with other professional and business organizations as well as more members and supporters. Our Executive Committee (teams) are running critical components of this organization's operations, with professionalism and innovative solutions that are making the difference in our NHQ "5 Channels to Access": Education, Career, Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Lifestyle, all related to enhancing ones performance. Only one year ago we were considering making inroads to diversity campaigns and increasing our economic development outreach, both accomplishments have yielded positive results and will be staple programs.
