September 26, 2011 – LOS ANGELES On Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Chapter of The National Black MBA Association (LABMBAA) will host their Annual Scholarship and Recognition Brunch which recognizes the chapter’s leadership, partners and scholarship recipients. Philanthropist and entrepreneur Bernard Kinsey will be the event's keynote speaker. Tickets for the event are $40 and can be purchased online at http://annualscholarshipbrunch.eventbrite.com. All proceeds will benefit the organization’s mission to identify and increase the pool of Black talent in business public, private and non-profit. The chapter provides thousands of dollars in annual scholarships to deserving undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students pursing careers in business.
This year, the extravaganza will be held at the luxurious Four Points by Sheraton LAX and hosted by LABMBAA’s two Education Chairpersons, Dr. Sharoni Little and Diana Neal. Corporate sponsors include Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Union Bank, United Health Group, Comerica Bank, Deloitte, Hyundai, Mattel, State Farm, United Technologies, Prudential, Chick-Fil-A, Direct TV, Target and University of Phoenix.
About Bernard Kinsey
Bernard Kinsey is a Los Angeles philanthropist and entrepreneur with a passion for African-American history and art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He and his wife Shirley, one of the most admired and respected couples in Los Angeles, are famously known for espousing two life principles, “To whom much is given much is required" and live “A life of no regrets.” Bernard and Shirley are widely heralded for their stewardship of art, books and manuscripts that document and tell the remarkable story of African Americans' triumphs and struggles from 1632 to present. Already having been seen by millions on television and radio nationally, The Kinsey Collection is one of the largest private collections of artifacts tracing African-American history. It includes sculptures, paintings, and documents with rich historical value. Bernard and Shirley Kinsey obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University, with Bernard having received his Honorary Doctorates from Florida A & M University and Alabama A & M University.
