General Scholarship Essay Question
Identify and discuss two pressing issues Black professionals face in the current global economy. Provide specific strategies to address these concerns, and what role you can/will play as an agent of change.

Sponsor Scholarship Essay Question
“Catalyst for Change,” is this year’s National Black MBA Association’s National Conference theme. In light of the fact that there are currently only four Black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, what strategies would you recommend for increasing Black organizational, political, economic, and educational leadership, and how will you serve as a catalyst for change.

  • Scholarship winners agree to participate in designated educational activities of the Los Angeles Chapter
NBMBAA (LANBMBAA) during the year the funds are awarded.
  • Scholarship winners will receive a two-year membership to the NBMBAA (membership fees are deducted from
the scholarship award), unless winner is a current member of the NBMBAA.
  • Phone interviews will be conducted, in the event of a tie.

General Scholarship Essay Question
The “State of Black America,” has been widely debated. Discuss your perception of the current state of affairs, and provide two specific strategies for ensuring political, economic, educational, and professional well-being.

Sponsor Scholarship Essay Question
As we witness a national discussion of the intellectual and professional abilities of Blacks (in light of Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith’s historic Super Bowl appearance and Barack Obama’s presidential bid), a question of “true” Black identity has entered the conversation. With Joseph Biden’s description of Obama as “articulate and clean,” a renewed debate regarding what it means to be a “Black intellectual” has been widely debated. As a Black academic, address the issue of “being Black and educated” and how the current social, professional, and political culture might or will impact your future endeavors.

  • Scholarship winners agree to participate in limited public relations activities of the Los Angeles Chapter NBMBAA (LANBMBAA) during the year the funds are awarded.
  • Scholarship winners will receive a two-year membership to the NBMBAA (membership fees are deducted from the scholarship award).
  • Phone interviews will be conducted, in the event of a tie.
